RSS Feeds, TOK, and Class Course Material

The advantage of an open blog like this one over a password protected domain like our school community portal is that it allows you, the user, to configure how you receive information from a particular source.

If you are like me, I don’t have time to go wading through website after website or to spend much time with password protected environments. As a much easier to use alternative you can add this page to any RSS reader (Google Reader is fantastic Click Here). The information and new information from these pages can then be pushed to any device you want it to using mobile apps or the toolbar of your web browser. I like to read information on my iPad using MobileRSS but you can choose your favorite or whatever is available to you. Another option is to use an RSS feed reader like dipity.

You can add multiple RSS feeds to something like dipity and it will give you one place to go for all your information. Thanks to my friend Brian Lockwood former IT Director at YIS, I just learned about a Facebook based RSS feed reader. Keep in mind when finding the source url you need that RSS feed URLs are usually slightly different from the page view you see when you go to the site. As an example, my blog’s general RSS feed is http://whoisadamclark.com/feed/ instead of the webpage url http://whoisadamclark.com.

You can also look for an icon like this to give you the RSS address you’ll need to copy and paste into your RSS reader.

If you are in my TOK class and have come across this post on your quest to better tap into the course content, this RSS feed will give you only TOK related content. Hope that helps. Good luck using RSS to better manage your web based content.
