Open Topic Presentation Blog Post

Posted on Nov 19, 2013 in TOK

For your open topic presentation (#2 following your Attraction Presentation) you will:

  • Find and describe a real-life situation (this choice is wide open to you).  Don’t spend all of your preparation time picking a real life situation.
  • State your central knowledge question.
  • Explain the connection between your real-life situation and your central knowledge question.
  • Identify any secondary knowledge questions. (This can occur as you move forward through the presentation as well)
  • Identify your conclusions regarding your central knowledge question and your secondary knowledge issues.
  • State how your conclusions are significant beyond your real-life situation. (Implications of your conclusions)

The following section is to be completed on your blog as per the due date in Veracross and our class assignment sheet. This is due right at the end of the semester so late work cannot be accepted. This post is structured very closely around the presentation planning documentation (TK/PPD) from the 2015 TOK Guide so excellent practice. That document (and your blog post) requires responses to the following:

  1. Describe your real-life situation.
  2. State your central knowledge question.
  3. Explain the connection between your real-life situation and your knowledge question.
  4. Outline how you intend to develop your presentation, with respect to perspectives, subsidiary knowledge questions and arguments.
  5. Show how your conclusions have significance for your real-life situation and beyond.

This should be presented in skeleton or bullet point form and not exceed 500 words. It is acceptable to include diagrams, as long as they are clearly related to the text. After you finish this assignment post the link on our class assignment sheet.
