A visual orientation to the world is something many can really relate to. For me, photography has always been something I’ve been associated with but often in front of the lens. At this point in my life, I am more willing to stop the motion and attempt to capture the perspective and experience of being there. I can’t promise anything other than the assurance that I have greatly enjoyed taking each photo you will find in the galleries below. I hope there is something in them that resonates with you or you find of value.

As a lifelong outdoor sports enthusiast my primary interests are landscapes and the macro-views that form more intimate landscapes. I also love borders and boundaries – particularly at the junctions where humanity and nature intersect. You may notice that many of my captures contain elements of this relationship. It is a relationship that has permeated my thoughts and beliefs since I was a small child so something I feel inseparably linked to. Please find my posts on photography (here).

In 2006 I started taking pictures with more intentionality. The camera that helped me start to bridge the gap between point and shoot and photography as art was a Canon Powershot SX1. In between the course-work I completed as part of my master’s degree in counseling psychology, I started studying photography in more earnest and learned the fundamentals by experimenting with the Powershot (making no promises, please click here to see some of the learning process). After completing my degree in Spring of 2012, I upgraded to DSLR Canon 60D with a EF-S 15-85mm IS USM lens. There are still at least two more lenses I want to purchase but for the moment the kit I have more than facilitates my ability to use it. My most recent photos can be found on flickr (click) or Tumblr (click).

Feel free to use any of my photos under creative commons but please credit me and link to my blog when you do. If you would like a higher resolution copy of a particular photo please contact me or see if I have it on flickr (click). I will be happy to see my images in use. – AC
